Sports Events & Institutions

Ellenville and the Shawangunks are the Northeastern United States mecca for hang-gliding. You can participate or just watch the gliders float down, like giant birds, on the mountain's wind currents.
For fishermen, there are a number of fast -moving trout streams.
The Town of Wawarsing is a popular location for deer hunting during the three weeks in late November and early December set by New York State for this sport.

Walkers will enjoy access to the half-mile track at Lippman Park, Ellenville High School's quarter mile track and many scenic back roads.

Excellent hiking trails abound in and around Minnewaska State Park and Ice Caves Mountain. The sheer rock faces of the Shawangunks attract rock-climbers from all over.
